Aug 13: Brigham City hearing on 4.81% property tax hike
NewsBreak · Brigham City, Utah
Brigham City has scheduled a 'Truth in Taxation' public hearing for Thursday, August 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM to discuss a proposed 4.81% increase in the municipal property tax rate. The hearing will be held at the City Council Chambers at 20 North Main, with opportunities for citizens to participate in person or virtually.
The city administration states that the proposed increase would generate an additional $184,843 in annual revenue. Officials plan to allocate these funds to hire a full-time City Attorney, estimated at $129,843, and to increase the budget for temporary parks maintenance staff by approximately $55,000.
For a typical $400,000 home, the tax increase would result in an additional $18.48 per year, while owners of $1.2 million commercial properties would see an increase of $100.80 annually. The council is inviting public input before making a final decision on the tax adjustment.
