Box Elder County Approves Short-Term Rentals in Accessory Dwelling Units
Box Elder News Journal · Brigham City, Utah
Box Elder County commissioners approved an amendment to the county land-use code allowing property owners to operate short-term rentals within qualifying accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and internal accessory dwelling units (IADUs).
The regulatory change lifts a longstanding countywide restriction that previously prohibited leasing ADUs for periods under 30 consecutive days. Under the updated ordinance, homeowners in eligible unincorporated areas of Box Elder County may offer permitted units for short-term visitor accommodations, expanding local lodging options while setting health and safety standards.
