Brigham City Teen Receives Letters from NASA and White House for Community Outreach

KUTV 2News · Brigham City, Utah

Fourteen-year-old Brigham City resident Tate Keesler is receiving national recognition from NASA and the White House for founding Tate’s Stand, a local grassroots initiative that has helped hundreds of struggling northern Utah families access food, diapers, and daily household essentials.

Tate launched the project outside his family's Brigham City home during a federal government shutdown after observing neighbors and community members facing financial hardship. Over time, the effort expanded across social media, where Tate and his mother, Tana, coordinate directly with local residents to pack groceries and provide essential supplies to families in need.

Despite facing bullying for his charitable efforts, encouraging letters from astronauts, NASA leadership, and the White House arrived to applaud his dedication to community service. As part of KUTV’s Pay It Forward program, Mountain America Credit Union presented Tate with support to help him continue his outreach efforts in Brigham City.
