Golden Spike Astronomical Society Forms and Announces Inaugural Public Meeting
The Leader (Tremonton) · Tremonton, Utah
Astronomy enthusiasts across Box Elder County have officially formed the Golden Spike Astronomical Society, announcing its inaugural public gathering for community star lovers and science educators. The society was founded to promote amateur astronomy, provide telescope access, and foster community enthusiasm for the night sky throughout northern Utah.
The society's first meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 28, in Tremonton, with organizers planning discussions on upcoming dark-sky observation nights, public star parties, and collaborative educational workshops with local schools and libraries. The group seeks to take advantage of Box Elder County's exceptionally clear, dark rural skies away from urban light pollution.
Membership is open to individuals and families of all experience levels, from beginner stargazers to seasoned astrophotographers. Leaders hope the organization will provide regular astronomy programming, solar eclipse viewing sessions, and public outreach across Brigham City, Tremonton, and neighboring valley towns.
