Heritage Country PUD recommended for approval | Tremonton Leader
The Leader (Tremonton) · Tremonton, Utah
The Tremonton Planning Commission has voted 5-2 to recommend approval of the Heritage Country Planned Unit Development (PUD) overlay to the City Council. The proposed development, spanning 73 acres south of Interstate 15, is designed to provide a mix of housing, including single-family homes and townhomes, along with parks and trails.
The discussion highlighted a delicate balance between meeting Tremonton’s housing needs and addressing infrastructure concerns such as sewer capacity, traffic impacts, and park development. Commissioners debated whether the development agreement should include specific requirements for a sewer lift station, performance bonds, and traffic studies to ensure the infrastructure can support the new growth.
For the local community, the project represents both an opportunity for development and a point of tension, as some residents worry about preserving the rural character of the area south of the interstate. The proposal will now proceed to the City Council for final negotiations and approval, where the specific terms of the development agreement will be finalized.
