Man charged with kidnapping, burglary in two Box Elder County domestic violence cases

The Leader (Tremonton) · Brigham City, Utah

Jacob Wayne Wilson, a 28-year-old Tooele man, is facing multiple felony charges in Box Elder County following two separate domestic violence incidents. Charges filed on Friday include second-degree felony burglary of a dwelling, class A misdemeanor violation of a protective order, and class B misdemeanors for assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child. A second felony case charges him with second-degree felony kidnapping and class B misdemeanor assault.

According to charging documents, Wilson allegedly entered a protected woman’s Brigham City residence without permission on September 30, 2026, assaulted her in front of their child, and took her car keys. In a separate incident on October 2, 2026, reported by the Tremonton-Garland Police Department, Wilson is accused of restraining the woman in a moving vehicle on the freeway between Tremonton and Brigham City, driving her into Weber County against her will. He was arrested on October 4 and again on October 27 for violating a jail-release agreement.

Wilson’s alleged actions and the subsequent charges highlight severe concerns about domestic violence and the enforcement of protective orders within the Box Elder community. The cases underscore the importance of victim safety and the legal system's efforts to address such offenses. He is scheduled for an initial court appearance in the kidnapping case on November 23, 2026, at 11:15 a.m., which will be assigned to Judge Brandon Maynard in Brigham City’s 1st District Court.
