New Owners Restore Historic Idle Isle Café Interior in Brigham City

Box Elder News Journal · Brigham City, Utah

The historic Idle Isle Café on Main Street in Brigham City is embarking on a new chapter of revitalization. Celebrated in 2021 for its landmark 100th anniversary, the beloved local staple was long recognized as Utah’s longest continually operating restaurant, serving as a social and culinary anchor for generations of Box Elder County residents.

However, that historic streak came to an abrupt end in May 2025 when financial difficulties forced the previous management to close its doors. The closure left a significant void in the heart of downtown Brigham City, sparking widespread concern over the future of the iconic building and its treasured legacy.

Now, fresh leadership has stepped in with a vision of renewal. The new owners have commenced extensive restoration work on the restaurant's interior, aiming to preserve its rich historical character while updating the space to ensure its long-term viability and success.

Beyond physical renovations, the new owners are deeply committed to rebuilding trust and fostering a strong relationship with the local community. By restoring this historic gathering place, they hope to bring back the warm, welcoming atmosphere that defined the Idle Isle Café for over a century.
