Northern county water company seeks CDBG funding for project near Plymouth
Box Elder News Journal · Plymouth, Utah
The Riverside North Garland Water Company is seeking federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to support a critical $1 million drinking water infrastructure improvement project in northern Box Elder County. Water company president Neil Capener presented the proposal before the Box Elder County Commission during an official public hearing.
The municipal grant application follows an earlier funding denial connected to environmental review hurdles, prompting the water company to reapply and address regional regulatory requirements. The proposed capital improvements are designed to replace aging delivery infrastructure, upgrade system capacity, and ensure safe, reliable culinary water for rural residents and agricultural properties near Plymouth and Riverside.
County commissioners reviewed the funding request as part of the county's annual CDBG allocation process, which directs federal resources toward vital community health, safety, and infrastructure projects across unincorporated areas of Box Elder County.
