What Would a Brigham City Community Gym Look Like? Inside the Proposed Hours, Fees, and Access Blueprint

Brigham City Corporation · Brigham City, Utah

As the Brigham City Council weighs architectural funding for a proposed municipal gymnasium, city recreation officials have released an operational blueprint outlining anticipated facility hours, staffing logistics, and an affordable admission fee schedule tailored for local families and seniors.

The model is designed to provide maximum community access without generating burdensome overhead, leveraging existing city staff during standard daytime business hours.

### Operating Schedule & Building Supervision

The proposed facility would operate **Monday through Saturday from 5:45 AM to 9:00 PM**, remaining closed on Sundays and seven recognized city holidays:

* **Daytime Coverage (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Mon–Thu; 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM Fri)**: Supervised by existing full-time Parks and Recreation personnel, eliminating the need for duplicate administrative payroll.

* **Early Morning & Evening Coverage (5:30 AM – 8:00 AM & 5:00 PM – 9:30 PM)**: Staffed by seasonal and part-time gym monitors.

* **Weekend Coverage (5:30 AM – 9:00 PM Saturdays)**: Managed by part-time recreation supervisors to oversee open-court play and league tournaments.

### Proposed Admission & Pass Rates

To keep the amenity accessible to all Box Elder residents, Director Chris Horsley proposed fees mirroring Farmington City’s municipal gym:

* **Ages 6 and Under**: Free for both residents and non-residents.

* **Youth (Ages 7–17)**: $1.50 per day for Brigham City residents ($2.50 for non-residents).

* **Adults (Ages 18–64)**: $2.00 per day for Brigham City residents ($3.00 for non-residents).

* **Seniors (Ages 65+)**: $1.50 per day for Brigham City residents ($2.50 for non-residents).

* **Senior Walking Track Only**: Just $0.75 per day, offering an affordable, weather-protected indoor exercise option during winter months.

* **Monthly Punch Passes**: Available for frequent patrons, projected at 849 monthly pass uses.

### Crucial Clarification: Spectators Attend Free

Director Horsley explicitly clarified that admission fees apply solely to individuals using open courts and workout equipment. **Spectators, parents, grandparents, and family members attending youth basketball games, volleyball tournaments, and Junior Jazz matches will never be charged an entry fee.**

The proposal heads to the Brigham City Council for action during their formal voting session on Thursday, November 5, 2026.
