Willard City and Box Elder County Advance Interlocal Agreement for South Willard Fire & EMS Coverage
Box Elder News Journal · Willard, Utah
Willard City and Box Elder County officials have reached critical milestones in negotiations toward formalizing an updated interlocal agreement for fire and emergency medical services (EMS) in the unincorporated community of South Willard.
Willard Fire Chief Van Mund briefed the Willard City Council that constructive meetings with Box Elder County Fire Marshal Kevin Lloyd and County EMS Coordinator Cory Oaks have successfully outlined core operational terms, automatic dispatch triggers, and cost-sharing models.
The upcoming agreement updates emergency coverage parameters along the growing Highway 89 corridor, ensuring uninterrupted, rapid first-responder protection for South Willard neighborhoods while providing fair municipal reimbursement for personnel hours and heavy emergency apparatus wear.
Both municipal and county leadership anticipate reviewing the final formalized contract language in upcoming public council and commission sessions.
